About Me
Hi, my name is Jenny and I’m glad you’re here!
My left-handed grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 10. She helped me make a scarf for my mom. I’m pretty sure she spent more time fixing my stitches than anything else, but she was patient. After that short-lived project, childhood quickly took over and I forgot everything. Fast forward to 2020, when I decided to take a crochet class at my local library. My hands remembered what my mind did not, and I haven’t looked back.
Now, I want to share my knowledge and teach you! If you are interested in beginner friendly, left-handed crochet tutorials, follow me on youtube. My website contains some helpful calculators and converters, along with links to some of my favorite yarn. Feel free to browse around.

Learn to Make a Slip Knot
The slip knot is the very first thing you’ll need to know before beginning your crochet project. I also discuss how to determine the correct hook size for your yarn and options for holding your crochet needle. If you are brand new to crochet, start here.
Learn the Chain Stitch
After you’ve mastered the slip knot, it’s time to learn the chain stitch. This stitch is the foundation stitch for most crochet projects. I’ll also discuss tension and how to hold your work while you make your chain stitch.
Learn the Single Crochet Stitch
Now that you’ve mastered the slip knot and chain stitch, it’s time to learn the Single Crochet Stitch. We will start with a chain row as our foundation, then create 2 rows of single crochet stitches. You’ll also learn how to turn your work with a chain stitch.
Let’s Make a Wash Cloth!
Now that you’ve learned the slip knot, chain and single crochet, it’s time for your first project. A wash cloth is the perfect beginner project to practice those single crochet stitches. You can do this!
Learn the Double Crochet Stitch
The Double Crochet stitch is a great stitch to learn, after the Single Crochet. It is used in many projects, but especially the granny square. Once you’ve got the Double Crochet stitch down, we will learn how to crochet a granny square.
Learn to Change Colors
Changing yarn color can be intimidating, but I promise, you can do it! There are several techniques, but this one leaves a nice clean line, perfect for changing colors at the end of a row.
Learn the Granny Square
The granny square is easier than you think! All you need to know is the chain stitch (ch) and the double crochet (dc) stitch. This tutorial walks you through making your first one-color granny square.
Learn the Half Double Crochet
The half double crochet stitch (hdc) starts out like a double crochet, but ends like a single crochet. And if you don’t know either of those stitches, that’s ok too!
